A Baalist or Baalite means a worshipper of Baal i.e. The Lord; which is the name/title for the Babylonian sun god Ba’al and is a pagan reference to just about all pagan “gods” … it is paganistic.
Let us look at some sources:
Wikipedia, Webster 1828, and Torah
Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baal
Baal, also rendered Baʿal (Biblical Hebrew בַּעַל), is a Northwest
Semitic title and honorific meaning "master" or "lord" that
is used for various gods who were patrons of cities in the Levant and Asia
Minor, cognate to Akkadian Bēlu.
Webster 1828- BA'AL, n. An idol among the ancient Chaldeans and Syrians, representing the sun. The word signifies also lord, or commander; and the character of the idol was varied by different nations, at different times. Thus Baal Berith is supposed to signify the Lord of the Covenant; Baal Peor, or rather Baal Phegor, the Lord of the dead. Ps. cvi, Baal Zebub, the god of flies, &c.
From Torah - The Northern Kingdom (Israel)
The Northern Kingdom consisted of ten (10) of the tribes
(excluding Judah/Yahudah and Benjamin/Benyamin). It lasted for about 210 years
until it was destroyed by Assyria in 722 BC. Its capital at that time was
Samaria. Every king of Israel did evil in the sight of Yahuah, see
1Ki 15:34 And he did evil in the eyes of Yah, and walked in the way of Yaroḇʽam, and in his sin by which he had made Yisra’ĕl sin.
Ahab as King of the Northern Kingdom introduced Baal Worship:
1Ki 16:30-33 And Aḥaḇ son of Omri did
evil in the eyes of יהוה, more than all those before him.
And it came to be, as though it had been a light matter for him to walk in the sins of Yaroḇʽam son of Neḇat, that he took as wife Izeḇel the daughter of Ethbaʽal, sovereign of the Tsiḏonians. And he went and served Baʽal and bowed himself to it, and raised up an altar for Baʽal in the house of Baʽal, which he had built in Shomeron. And Aḥaḇ made an Ashĕrah. And Aḥaḇ did more to provoke יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl than all the sovereigns of Yisra’ĕl before him.
If the Northern Kingdom (House of Yisra'el) served Baal, then this proves that they wanted to be distinctly different from Yahudah (Judah) in every way. Samaria became the Capital City along with Mt Gerizim, replacing Jerusalem as appointed by previous King Omri in 1 Kings 16:24. And instead of Yahuah being worshipped, Baal became the object of worship. How did they do this? They called Yahuah the replacement title LORD (which does not have anything to do with who Yahuah is) instead of continuing in the covenant of Torah.
That's why the Nabi/Navi/Prophet Eliyahu/Elijah confronted Ahab:
1Ki 18:18-21 And he answered, “I have
not disturbed Yisra’ĕl, but you and your father’s house, in that you have
forsaken the commands of יהוה, and you have followed the Baʽals. “And now, send
and gather all Yisra’ĕl to me on Mount Karmel, the four hundred and fifty
prophets of Baʽal, and the four hundred prophets of Ashĕrah, who eat at
Izeḇel’s table.”
Aḥaḇ then sent for all the children of Yisra’ĕl, and gathered
the prophets on Mount Karmel.
And Ěliyahu came to all the people, and said, “How long would you keep hopping between two opinions? If יהוה is Elohim, follow Him; and if Baʽal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.
That's why the Nabi/Navi/Prophet YirmeYahu/Jeremiah confronted
Yisra'el as well:
Jer 23:25-27 “I have heard what the
prophets have said who prophesy falsehood in My Name, saying, ‘I have dreamed,
I have dreamed!’ “Till when shall it be in the heart of the prophets? – the
prophets of falsehood and prophets of the deceit of their own heart, who try to make My people
forget My Name by their dreams which everyone relates to his
neighbour, as their fathers forgot My Name for Baʽal.
As seen in YirmeYahu/Jeremiah 23:27 – The Most High does not want us to forget HIS Name - Yahuah
When one uses the generic title LORD to attribute it to Yahuah,
then they are actually going against the Ten Words/Commandments/Covenant
contract in Shemot/Exodus 20
Exo 20:1 And Elohim spoke all these
Words, saying,
Exo 20:2 “I am Yah your
Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, out of the house of
slavery.
Exo 20:3 “You have no other mighty
ones against My face.
Exo 20:4 “You do not make for
yourself a carved image, or any likeness of that which is in the heavens above,
or which is in the earth beneath, or which is in the waters under the earth,
Exo 20:5 you do not bow down to them
nor serve them. For I, Yah your Elohim am a jealous Ěl, visiting the
crookedness of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations
of those who hate Me,
Exo 20:6 but showing kindness to
thousands, to those who love Me and guard My commands.
Exo 20:7 “You do not bring the Name
of Yah your Elohim to naught, for Yah does not leave the one
unpunished who brings His Name to naught.
His Name is to be remembered
Exo 3:14 And Elohim said to Mosheh, “I am that which I am.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘I am has sent me to you.’
The Heḇrew text reads: ’eyeh ’asher ’eyeh, the word ’eyeh being derived from hayah which means to be, to exist, but the Aramaic text here in v. 14 reads: ayah ashar ayah. This is not His Name, but it is an explanation that leads up to the revelation of His Name in v. 15, namely: Yah.
Exo 3:15 And Elohim said further to Mosheh, “Thus you are to say to the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘Yah Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Aḇraham, the Elohim of Yitsḥaq, and the Elohim of Yaʽaqoḇ, has sent me to you. This is My Name forever, and this is My remembrance to all generations.’
Pro 30:1-4 The words of Aḡur son of
Yaqeh, a message. This man declared to Ithi’ĕl, to Ithi’ĕl and Uḵal: For I am
more stupid than anyone, And do not have the understanding of a man.
And I have not learned wisdom That I should know the knowledge of
the Set-apart One.
Who has gone up to the heavens and come down? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who established all the ends of the earth? What is His Name, And what is His Son’s Name, If you know it?
Neither is His Name G-D
Isa 65:11-12 “But you are those who forsake Yah, who forget My set-apart mountain, who prepare a table for Gad, and who fill a drink offering for Meni. “And I shall allot you to the sword, and let you all bow down to the slaughter, because I called and you did not answer, I spoke and you did not hear, and you did evil before My eyes and chose that in which I did not delight.”
Gad is a Syrian or Canaanite deity of good luck or fortune. In Hebrew, it is written GD, but with Massoretic vowel-pointing, it is "Gad." Other Scriptural references to a similar deity, also written GD, have a vowel-pointing giving us "Gawd" or "G-d." Gad is identified with Jupiter, the Sky-deity or the Sun-deity.
The word "G-d" (or rather, g-d) is a title, but not a proper name. In English Bibles the word is sometimes translating the Hebrew Elohim (or elohim), El (or el), and Eloah. In the Greek Scriptures the word translates the Greek word "theos". Both the Hebrew and Greek "root" meaning is "Mighty one" or "Powerful one," and is applicable to terrestrial and celestial beings. However, it is most often incorrectly used as a substitute for the Hebrew Tetragrammaton (YHWH). Transliterated as YAHWEH, or YAHUWEH pronounced YAH-OO-AY.
According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, God and goddess, http://www.britannica.com/topic/god-and-goddess#ref1049769
they are generic terms for the many deities of
ancient and modern polytheistic religions. Such deities may
correspond to earthly and celestial phenomena or to human values, pastimes, and
institutions, including love, marriage, hunting, war, and the arts. While some
are capable of being killed, many are immortal. Although they are always more
powerful than humans, they are often described in human terms, with all the
flaws, thoughts, and emotions of humans.
In Indo-Germanic dictionaries, only one word resembles
"g-d." It is ghodh and is pronounced the same. This word means union,
also sexual union or mating.
Back to 1 kings - Notice who else were there when the Nabi/Navi/Prophet Eliyahu/Elijah confronted Ahab: 400 prophets of Asherah
If Yah is Elohim, follow Him; and if Baʽal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.
Whenever Ba'al/the lord is worshipped, there is a presence of Asherah! What are the markers? Using the wrong name and title; and the presence of sexual sins.
Reference: Howard E. Vos, "An Introduction To Bible Archaeology" Revised ed. (Chicago: Moody Press, 1953) pp. 17-19. "One may question that those ancient enemies of Israel were as evil as the Bible claims that they were, but even a superficial glance at Canaanite religion alone ably demonstrates their iniquity. Base sex worship was prevalent, and religious prostitution even commanded; human sacrifice was common;
Scripture reference to human sacrifice
Joshua 6:26 And Yehoshua warned them at that time, saying, “Cursed is the man before Yah who rises up and builds this city Yeriḥo – he lays its foundation with his first-born, and with his youngest he sets up its gates.”
1Ki 16:34 In his days Ḥi’ĕl of Bĕyth Ěl built Yeriḥo. He laid its foundation at the cost of Aḇiram his first-born, and at the cost of his youngest son Seḡuḇ he set up its gates, according to the word of Yah, which He had spoken through Yehoshua son of Nun.
Notice who Yahushua (not Jesus for there’s no letter J in common usage until the 16th century-400-500 years ago) went to in Mat 15:24 And He answering, said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Yisra’ĕl.”
Hosea 2:16-17"“And
it shall be, in that day,” declares Yah, “that you call Me ‘My Husband,’ and no
longer call Me ‘My Ba‛al.’ “And I shall remove the names of the Ba‛als from her
mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name."
Exodus 23:13 “And in all that I have said to you take heed. And make no mention of the name of other mighty ones, let it not be heard from your mouth."
Answer this question; Are you a baalist? One that uses the title lord and god. If so, are there sexual sins in your lie or congregation?
Or,
do you call The Most High by His Personal Name – Yah?
Shalom,
Yitshaq
