Read Right and Right Read

As a child I use to hear my father say " learn to read right and right read".  I often wondered as a child what was he saying?  And even now I am not 100% sure if he understood what he was saying himself..  However, after 27 years in ministry I now understand in my life the application of "read right and right read"!

Did you know that how you read the Torah or the scriptures in general determines the revelation or understanding you receive?

You see, many read the scriptures fast, some slow, some with a closed mind, or through the lens of ones denominational upbringings.  Some even read the scriptures for the purpose of a sermon.  When this occurs it becomes very easy to miss the revelation of the text.

Proverbs 4:7 says "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding".  The whole thought process of reading scripture is to get an understanding and not to get a sermon.  Understanding in the quoted text above comes from the Hebrew word "biynah" which has a root word "biyn" which means "discernment".  That's the whole purpose when one read the scriptures.

Unfortunately, when we do not "biyn" the scriptures we tend to miss what YHVH has planned for our lives, the scope of life, or the purpose of the text or the purpose of the body of believers.

I tell people everywhere I go "truth misapplied is error".  .Another thing I share with them when they quote a scripture out of context is "Q.R.A.W".  An acronym for Quoted Right Applied Wrong!

It is so easy to quote a text and misapply the meaning of that text.

So " learn to read right and right read".    "biyn" the scriptures

  1. So very true Bro. Isaac. Many are not taught how to study the Word. With my initial background coming from the "traditions of men" fellowships (Baptist & COGIC), I've heard a wide range of inaccuracies, scripture taken out of context, and searched for sermon to be put together.

I used to hear things and would later follow-up and re-read and pray for understanding. I knew I wasn't being taught the full counsel of YHVH's word; and actually prayed and asked YHVH to send someone into my life to teach me how to study, beyond the pre-canned teachings by many theologians (a lot of which were not even in the covenant of salvation with Yeshua).

I remember when the Ruach HaKodesh would be speaking to me on Sundays in worship service for me to keep the "Lord's Sabbath," to which I would respond, "But Lord I'm in church every Sunday."

Next the Ruach HaKodesh would tell me every Sunday that my relationship with the LORD, is "beyond the church WALLS." And lastly, the prompting for me to keep the dietary laws of the Bible.

Long story short, I prayed and asked YHVH to help me to understand, how to study His word and for the Holy Spirit to teach me "all" things since that's what was written in His word.

Well, YHVH answered that prayer and I've never been the same since (thank YHVH). My surrender, consecration and santification process was fast-tracked in my life.

The greater my surrender to obedience, the greater the revelation and willingly application of the Word of YHVH. I now understand why the Psalmist said how much they loved YHVH's law, commandments, precepts and statutes.

A year after this transformation, I was given a burden and vision for my life, and am in the preparation process for it. I would like to share the details, but not in a public setting. Not sure how to send a private email. Do you know how to?

Shalom & Blessings in His mighty & strong name!
